About Tyler Donaldson-Aitken

Born into a family with a distinguished legacy in horse riding and racing, Tyler has notably upheld this tradition through his extensive achievements. His journey began in Australia, extended to England, and culminated in the establishment of a successful business in his homeland. Tyler's unwavering dedication and passion for horse racing are evident in all facets of his career.

His lineage includes notable equestrians: his grandfather, Milton Donaldson, was an Olympic show jumper for Australia, and his father, Stan Aitken, was a leading Australian jockey with wins in major races like the 1973 Cox Plate. Tyler’s mother and cousins also excelled in equestrian sports, with his cousin Timothy Bell notably winning the leading apprentice award in Australia.

During his school years, Tyler apprenticed with top trainers in Ballarat, enhancing his racing industry knowledge. He took a gap year to work in Western Australia, followed by a Bachelor of Applied Science, supporting himself by working at prominent Flemington stables; Mike Moroney, Bill Cercy and Nigel Blackiston.

After university, Tyler launched a pre-training venture in Geelong, then expanded to Ballarat. His expertise broadened further during a two-year stint in England, where he worked in Newmarket breaking in thoroughbreds and Arabian racehorses for elite owners.

Returning to Australia, Tyler established a business in Ballarat focused on breaking, pre-training, and preparing horses for 'Ready to Run' sales. Renowned for his skill in re-educating horses, including those with behavioural issues, Tyler's methods are both innovative and effective.

In 2022, Tyler showcased his resilience and horsemanship in the Mongol Derby, one of the world's most demanding endurance races, finishing the 1000km challenge in nine days and placing fourth.

Tyler's comprehensive abilities in working with horses, from selection and training to behavioural management, underscore his deep commitment and expertise as a respected figure in the horse racing community.
